For digital health applications (DiGA) - medical apps - reimbursement by the health insurance is possible. The prerequisite is that the DiGAs are listed in the DiGA directory by the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM). For this, the positive healthcare effect must be proven by clinical studies. A preliminary inclusion in the DiGA list is also possible. In this case the proof of the positive healthcare effects must be provided within one to a maximum of two years. In this way, reimbursability is already given while a clinical trial is being conducted.
